about Paulina Barona

Mrs. Paulina Barona de Baeza was born in Mexico City. She majored in International Relations and Law at ITAM (Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico), Mexico’s most prestigious university. Before coming to Singapore, from 2004-2006, she had her own business « Espressione Salon and Spa».

While still in Mexico, she enjoyed cooking for friends, family and for big Mexican fiestas where she has the experience of organizing big parties for 80 to 150 guests, including the organization of her own wedding which was attended by more than 400 guests.

She inherited the culinary art from both her grandmother and mother. Since she was 6 years old she helped them in the daily Mexican home-style cooking; hence the source of her inspirational gift to create delicious and unique self-styled traditional Mexican dishes. Her friends call her «inspiration delight hands».

She also enjoyed helping at the Restaurant of her uncle «El Gallo de Oro», where she learnt restaurant management techniques, client service strategies, and several Mexican specialties.

Recently she was invited to cook for the Latin Week at Club Med in Bintan, Indonesia; where she cooked for more than 350 guests daily. Last September she taught some workshops of Mexican Cooking which were organized by the Mexican Embassy in Singapore and the People’s Association.

She enjoys meeting other cultures as well as learning other languages, she speaks Spanish, English, Italian, and she is learning Mandarin.

She has the experience of organizing large events like international conferences and seminars; in 2001 she was in charge of organizing ITAMMUN Model of United Nations which was attended by more than 300 delegates from all over the world.

She is not only an artist with her hands but also with her mind: She writes poetry, acts, and sings since she was in elementary school. She is a natural soprano and learnt to sing opera at the National School of Music.

She has received the Poetry Award 1998 for Best Performance at Instituto Miguel Angel, and in 1996 she also received the Best First Actress Award for her performance in the play “La Dama del Alba” of Alejandro Casona.

Currently, she is in charge of Public Relations for the Spanish Speaking Woman Association, a charity association.  She also works at Belmonte Latin Foods, a distributor of Mexican products in Singapore
